The 10kV power supply unit in the demo housing is a continuously adjustable high-voltage source for both electrostatic applications and a power supply unit suitable for operating gas discharge tubes.
It’s simple and intuitive to operate, the supply output for the electric heating coils and its high level of safety make it a valuable device for physics demonstration lessons. Compared to many other comparable commercially available devices, it features the unusual use of a medium-frequency sine wave converter, which means that the device emits virtually no high-frequency interference (EMR). Compared to earlier mains-powered systems, the output voltage remains constant even when the mains voltage varies.
